The training will include sessions on the history of PBI, the principles of nonviolence, and on the political analysis of the Indonesian situation, as well as participatory exercises and role-plays, to help people to gain an idea of what working on a PBI team could be like, covering such topics as:

  • Nonviolent Communication
  • Non-Partisanship
  • Consensus and Group Process
  • Group Dynamics
  • Life on a Team
  • Indonesian Culture
  • Ethical Use of Privilege
  • Security

  • Preparation to Go

The sessions will be conducted in English. At the end of the training, volunteers meet with the training team to jointly evaluate their suitability for the work, and, if accepted join our pool of available volunteers. Actual scheduling for service varies and will be negotiated individually with the Human Resources Committee. Volunteers are also encouraged and supported to do outreach and fundraising work in their own communities and regions. For this they can cooperate with the nearest PBI Country Group.

To apply, read the additional information and follow the instructions on this page. If you have other questions, email the training contact whose address is at the bottom of each page.
