- The applicant should look at the website to see if there is a PBI Country Group in their country. Some Country Groups will invite you to a pre-selection. They will also have additional information and the latest updates on trainings.
- The applicant submits the application form to the training section of the Human Resources Committee at recruiting(at)pbi-indonesia.org. (For any questions, you can contact this mail address)
- The applicant submits three completed reference forms before the process continues further.
- PBI IP members contact the applicant for a telephone interview for any items that may need clarification. The telephone interview is to confirm acceptance at the training and is approx 1 hr long.
- After the telephone interview, the applicant is informed whether or not s/he is approved for the training session. Due to the unique and challenging nature of PBI work, acceptance to the training session does not imply acceptance to the team. The training serves as part of the interview/selection process for both PBI and the applicant.
- The applicant attends a 10 or 12-day training session.
- The training team along with Human Resources decides whether the applicant:
- Will be invited to join the team,
- Could be invited to join the team if specific skills are further developed, or
- Will not be invited to join the team
- Deployment is decided by Human Resources based on the volunteer's needs and PBI's needs. Among other factors, the existing team size and composition will affect the date that successful applicants can join the team. Preferably, volunteers will start in February, May, August or November.
- The volunteer undergoes intensive language study in Indonesia (if required), usually 3-4 months duration, as part of the prerequisite to join PBI IP.
- Every PBI volunteer undergoes a two-month peer evaluation on the team, which will confirm continuation with the project as a team member and concludes the selection process. Routine peer evaluations are held every six months thereafter.
